Scalado’s SpeedTags Camera Solution enables photographers to instantly capture multi-megapixel images without any shutter lag, freezing the moment of capture. Users can zoom into the resulting JPEG images to review the details of the image without any delay. This gives greater freedom to photographers and enhances a whole variety of camera phone functions, including burst capturing and viewing.

 
Goodbye shutter lag
The SpeedTags Camera SDK offers the Zero Shutter Lag Feature Module. Thanks to users being able to preview a stream of full-resolution JPEG images with SpeedTags they can capture images with zero shutter lag. The images are decoded to the screen in real-time.

When in burst mode, the application continually stores the latest number of images. Once the user pushes the capture button, the application then saves both the images before capture, as well as the following images.

This enables capturing full-resolution images from a time point BEFORE the user hits the capture button, yet still shows viewfinder images in real-time.

Hello super-fast image processing
The SpeedTags Camera SDK includes a CAPS Acceleration Feature Module that accelerates the processing speeds of JPEG images by instantly creating SPMOs (SpeedView Meta Objects) based on images with SpeedTags.

As metadata is already available for processing at the moment of capture, it creates instant feedback when using View, Capture, Burst or Panorama modes in camera phones.

The output is a regular JPEG image with SPMO that can be stored in the JPEG header or anywhere else in the file system. The SPMO can then be used to initiate a CAPS session for immediate processing of the JPEG image in CAPS.

This unique method of processing images enables to instantaneously zoom and pan into the details of the individual images, giving them a truly great photo experience.

Thanks to Scalado SpeedTags Camera Solution, manufacturers can now offer real-time viewing and capturing of high-resolution images, totally eradicating shutter lag. Now, users really can take a picture of a sporting event, not a picture of concrete after a sports car has already passed, or a square of grass after the goal has been scored.

Enabling SpeedTags
SpeedTags are enabled by making minor modifications to the JPEG encoder hardware, allowing it to encode SpeedTagged JPEGs. We provide complete technical specifications and verification tools, as well as all the support you need during the integration and test period.
