Samsung Electronics integrates Scalado SpeedTags technology

Next generation of Samsung’s multi-megapixel camera modules will incorporate Scalado SpeedTags™ Technology for accelerated image capture and management

Lund, October 30th, 2008 — Samsung Electronics has signed a contract with Scalado, the leader in mobile imaging software solutions, to licence and integrate Scalado SpeedTags™ technology into future mobile multi-megapixel SOC designs featuring 3 megapixels (MP) and above. Scalado’s technology will be included in Samsung’s image sensor modules in order to help manage the larger files produced by the high-resolution image sensor, thereby improving overall JPEG image handling performance significantly. The camera modules using the new technology will be used in mobile devices, such as camera phones and PDAs.

The implementation of SpeedTags will accelerate the speed and enhance the performance of Scalado’s CAPS™ imaging suite, a powerful solution which is focused on providing enhanced functionality to camera phones. As a result, users can expect increased performance and data handling capabilities for high resolution images that will dramatically improve the experience of viewing images on a mobile device.
