Scalado to showcase new image viewing technology at 6Sight

SpeedView® technology applied to camera hardware enables super-fast image viewing on camera phone

Scalado, the leader in mobile imaging software solutions for fast and memory efficient image processing, is pleased to announce that its CTO Sami Niemi will present a ‘New Technology Showcase’ session at this week’s 6Sight conference in Monterey to showcase the company’s latest SpeedView® software technology. The presentation on Friday, 9th November at 11.10 will introduce Scalado’s SpeedView® enhanced encoders that have been developed to work with the camera processor to create SpeedView® extended JPEG images. These images allows instant browsing, viewing, zooming and panning at all times, independent of resolution.

The new SpeedView® encoder is based on Scalado’s patented RAJPEG™ technology, a JPEG codec that reduces the amount of RAM memory required by a factor of 25x, and increases performance and the speed for image manipulation without compromising on image quality. Scalado RAJPEG™ is already used for decoding in 100 million phones.

The latest development by Scalado is unique, and the first to work in tandem with the camera chip, providing a fully backwards compatible extension to JPEG technology. By applying SpeedView® encoding to the image as it’s actually taken, the image can be processed up to 50x faster, giving the user unprecedented image viewing performance on mobile handsets.
